What is The Way?

apprendere (verb) – the art of walking together for the purpose of growth

In a culture shaped by hurry and distraction, The Way Apprenticeship creates space to slow down and apprentice under Jesus together.

Through Scripture, prayer, spiritual disciplines, and intentional community, we seek not simply more information, but deeper formation in the likeness of Christ.

At its core, The Way Apprenticeship is about becoming more into the people God created us to be.

How We Walk Together

We keep groups small.

Cohorts are intentionally limited to around 12 people to cultivate meaningful relationships, honest dialogue, and deeper growth over time.

We gather every week.

Each week, apprentices gather for about an hour of Scripture, prayer, conversation, reflection, and spiritual formation together on Zoom.

We commit to five months together.

The Way is designed as a slower journey of formation practiced consistently over time — not a one-time event or short-term class.

We make time for reading and practice.

Through shared reading, spiritual disciplines, and more, apprentices learn to embody the way of Jesus in everyday life.

We culminate our time together in what we call The Advance Retreat.

Each cohort includes an in-person event for deeper connection, conversation, rest, and spiritual renewal together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for pastors or church leaders?

Not at all. The Way Apprenticeship is designed for anyone hungry to grow through intentional discipleship, spiritual formation, and community.

How long are the weekly gatherings?

We meet for about 45-60 minutes every week on Zoom.

How much time does the apprenticeship require each week?

Participants should expect around 5 hours per week between weekly calls, reading, reflection, spiritual practices, and personal engagement.

What if I miss a gathering?

No worries! We understand life happens. While consistent participation is important to the cohort experience, grace and communication matter too. The goal is not perfection, but intentional engagement and walking faithfully together over time.

How much does everything cost?

The total cost of the five-month cohort is $150. The Advance Retreat cost may vary depending on your cohort and will be discussed after you express interest.

Do I need to have extensive Bible knowledge?

Not at all. The Way is designed for people who are willing to learn, grow, ask honest questions, and walk alongside others. Whether you’re just starting out or have been reading the Bible for years, The Way will meet you right where you’re at. 

Is this online or in-person?

The cohort includes weekly gatherings on Zoom, along with intentional in-person experiences throughout the journey, including The Advance Retreat.

What does The Advance Retreat include?

Each cohort participates in a mandatory 2-day, 2-night gathering in Central Oregon designed for deeper connection. 


The experience includes:

  • Lodging in the Bend area
  • Shared meals together
  • Conversation and teaching with Sean and guests
  • Reflection and discussion
  • Space for rest, laughter, and connection
  • Potential hikes, games, and intentional downtime together

Costs may vary depending on the cohort experience and will be discussed after you express interest.

When does the next cohort begin?

Cohorts are created with a lot of thought and prayer, so dates vary. Because of that, future cohort details will be shared after you connect with us. 

How is this connected to The School of Theology?

The Way Apprenticeship is a feature of The Colloquium School of Theology and Human Formation. While The Way focuses primarily on discipleship, spiritual formation, and embodied practice, the broader vision of the school also includes opportunities such as certifications, internships, practicums, intensives, and academic pathways.


Each expression is designed to serve different stages of growth, formation, and calling.
